Mike, a Corp. ABC employee, is very passionate about the American Cancer Society. His mother is a cancer survivor and Mike credits the American Cancer Society with providing his family with much needed information and support during his mother’s illness. As Mike prepares to participate in an upcoming fund-raising walk that will benefit the society, he is trying to decide whether he should solicit donations from his fellow Corp. ABC employees. He has seen a lot of other employees solicit donations, but has felt a little uneasy about it when he has been the one being solicited, especially when he has been solicited for a cause he does not personally support. But he considers the fight against cancer very important, and he can't imagine that anyone would object.
What should Mike do? Would your answer be different if he were a manager?
