Ethics is considered by many to be only a theoretical component of organizational life; the exclusive domain of philosophers, lawyers and the human resources department. Priority Ethics is a resource dedicated to helping leaders and their employees see the ethical dimensions of their everyday work, and begin to develop the habits of sound prioritization that lead to personal and organizational flourishing.
Priorities and ethics are inseparable. For every action we take, we make a priority judgment that our chosen action is more important—a higher priority—than the alternatives we did not choose. Thus ethics, as the evaluation of free human decision-making, is all about prioritization: did the individual practice sound or unsound priorities?
Ethics Education
Professional Ethics training should not be about abstract principles or obscure concepts. At the Institute, our Ethics Education Program is designed to:
- Help participants better understand their own ethical decision-making approachin relation to their responsibilities within their organization. By doing so, we help individuals to develop the tools that they need to improve doing what to some extent they already do.
- Begin to foster in participants the habit of seeking and doing the right thing; that is, to develop the character and the disposition to recognize and practice sound priorities.
